The Surest One

The last few months there has been some painful family drama.  Without going into details, I was recently thinking about one particular person involved in the whole thing and just feeling sadness and pain because of their choices and how those choices were affecting others and, in the long run, themselves. A lot of my songs stem out of that emotional feeling place. I sat down to the piano and caught the beginning tune of this song. It’s taken me a little while to figure out the rest of the tune, but the notes that came to me at first have stuck like glue. I finished the song just yesterday. Here are the words:

Part One:

Why do they

Turn away

From the only One

Who satisfies?

Don’t they know

He’s the One

Who can bring hope

To their shattered lives?

Oh I know it’s not easy

To trust Him with your heart

When it’s bleeding and breaking

But don’t you know

Refrain:

He’s the One

The Surest One

When you’re bleeding and you’re breaking

When your heart is torn in two

When your life falls apart

And you don’t know what to do

Trust the One who stops the bleeding

Who knows the perfect mend

Trust the One who holds you close

Restoring you to His truth!

Part Two:

You don’t have

To hold on

To the deep pain

And brokenness.

He can wipe

Ev’ry tear

From your eye

And bring joy to your life.

Oh I know it’s hard to see how

This could ever turn for good

But in every heartbreak burden

He’s got your hand.

Repeat Refrain:

He’s the One

The Surest One

When you’re bleeding and you’re breaking

When your heart is torn in two

When your life falls apart

And you don’t know what to do

Trust the One who stops the bleeding

Who knows the perfect mend

Trust the One who holds you close

Restoring you to His truth!

Finale:

He’s the One

The Surest One

When you’re bleeding and you’re breaking

You can trust Him with your heart

He’s the One

The Surest One

He’s the One

The Surest One

He’s the One

The Surest One
